Bishoftu

Bishoftu or Debre Zeit is one of the nearby days out destinations on the outskirts of Addis Ababa in the southeast direction. Found 40 km from Addis Ababa, the town is famed for the number of crater lakes and its boutique resorts which makes it one of the premium leisure travelers spot in the vicinity of Addis Ababa. These craters lakes are created by volcanic explosions, later filled by water. The largest of all the lakes is Lake Hora, where the annual Ireecha/ Thanksgiving day of the Oromo people of Ethiopia/ being celebrated.  According to local lore, this is the second-deepest lake in Ethiopia. The best way to appreciate this scenic body of water is from the crater rim at one of the hotel’s drinks in hand. The view is sensational. Apart from its scenic setting, the lake area is the ultimate spot to gaze at dozens of flamingos on the surface of the lake.
