Arada Gyorgis

Admire Belle Epoque architecture at Arada Giyorgis, an octagonal Orthodox cathedral. Built by Italian prisoners in 1896, the cathedral features a relic of St. George which was carried to the battle site. Numerous colorful paintings and mosaics adorn the interior, which served as the coronation site of Emperor Selassie in 1930. A small museum next to the church exhibits diverse regalia such as crowns, crosses, scrolls, and coronation robes. You can take a tour of the museum, which also includes a tour of the cathedral.
